Can you believe how fast the summer is slipping by.  Its already
August and time for another UGRS meeting to be held on Saturday the
16th.  You should plan to be at David Fulghum's home by 10:00 AM.  Dave
house is located at 10791 S. 1000 E. in Sandy, UT.  If you have problems
getting there and need to contact Dave you can reach him a 801-495-3495.
I'm being kidnapped by my family to take our annual vacation, so I won't
be able to attend but our host (Dave) has volunteered to conduct the
meeting along with show giving you a guided tour of his recent
operational out door layout.  You can reach Dave's house as follows:

1.  From I-15 take Exit 297 on to 10600 S. going east.

2.  Traveling east on 10600 S. go approximately 2 miles to and turn
right on 1000 E. going south.

(The intersection of 10600 S and 1000 E is not obvious. The Crossing street on 10600 S is Carnation.  You will see the Dimple Dell Rec Center and a Big 5 Sporting goods store at the corner, turn south, two blocks, I'm on the corner of 1000 E and LaFayette... DF)

3.  Traveling south on 1000 E. go 2 blocks and 10791 S. will come up on
your left just past Lafayette St.

Hi gang, Dave here..

I was reading a post on Shad's Mylargescale.com the other day and I got inspired. A member of the forum had posted a detailed account of a operations session that he had done. ( read the post here  http://www.mylargescale.com/Community/Forums/tabid/56/forumid/5/postid/40599/view/topic/Default.aspx  )

I'd really love to run a ops session sometime. It looks to be fun and challanging, but I have no experience at it at all, zero.  Do we have any members of the UGRS with Ops experience? If so I think it'd be great fun to set up a Saturday afternoon session and give it a go.. What are your thoughts?  Drop me a note and let's get some discussion going on this.

Construction continues on Dave's Lone Peak & Western Railroad. Great progress is being made and things look to be proceeding on schedule to have the new mainline operational before the August 16th meeting at Dave's house. Hello UGRS
We are approaching the middle of summer and hopefully everyone
is getting some running time in.  We had a fun meeting in June at Paul
Smiths home and saw a lot of neat improvements he'd made to his out door
layout.  This months meeting will be held on Saturday, July 19th, at Don
Chapman's home at 10:00 AM. Don has a beautiful back yard railroad and is continually
upgrading and making improvements. If anyone has a recent experience or skill
they would like to share with the rest of the club let me know and I'll
make sure you get on the agenda.  Hope we can see you there.

UGRS South (SLC & UT) Counties
This Saturday (June 21) is our UGRS meeting.  If you've been
looking for an excuse to ride UTAs Front Runner from Salt Lake to Ogden,
here it is.  If this grabs your interest let me know by Thursday (June
19) 4:00 PM.  My thinking is on Saturday if you catch the 8:25AM Front
Runner from Salt Lake Central Station, arriving at Ogden Intermodal
Center at 9:23, I will give you a ride to Paul Smiths and return you to
the Ogden Intermodal Center in time to catch the 12:08PM Front Runner
back to SL Central Station arriving at 1:07PM.  According to the UTA
webb site the fare is $5.00 each way.  Let me know as soon as possible
so I can make arrangements for volunteers to help shuttle folks from the
Ogden Intermodal Center to Paul Smiths and back.
If you can help out as a shuttle volunteer, please let me know,
I really don't know what kind of response I'm going to get to this.

Hello Utah Garden Railways Society

This months meeting will be held on Saturday June 21st at 10:00 AM at Paul Smith's in South Ogden.  Paul has a beautiful out door layout set around a pond and meandering through the scrub on the hillside in his back yard.  The long range forecast is in the high 80s that weekend so it should be a sunny day.
